School Tour Company (2017)

The Ohio State University Department of Dance creates an opportunity for students interested in kindergarten through twelfth grade education in dance and look into the rigorous experience of dance company performance. This process is held within the repertory slot in department of dance schedule, 12:45-2:40. The first month held rehearsals with a rotation of eight different choreographers, each dancer was in either four to five pieces. While this rehearsal process was happening, students of the tour had the opportunity to travel to schools, that soon held performances, to teach master classes. Grace Robinson, Megan Wurtz, and myself taught the fifth grade students at Indianola School a contemporary movement class. The months of February and March was reserved for traveling to different schools during the repertory slot and performing the pieces and participating in a question and answers for the students. I performed in Alexandra Stilianos, Julia Ayau, Calder White, and Jazelynn Goudy pieces. These pieces included a range of dance influences including hip hop, jazz, modern, African, and Odissi classical Indian dance.
